Balancing Act

My latest book was published in 2011. It enlarges upon the analysis of equestrian sports based on the data material of the FN from 2010. Against the background of animal welfare and the proper way of teaching, the importance of classical training is being portrayed. The contents of the FN’s principles are determined on the basis of classical literature, especially those of the last two centuries. The knowledge of the biomechanics enables the principles to be transparent and understandable. Many different qualities of the rider, particularly the character, lead to the most important element of classical training: the smooth and balanced seat. Based on the biomechanics, an extra chapter elaborates on approaches of the correction of wrongly trained horses. Furthermore, the topic of “lameness due to wrong use of the reins” (Zügellahmheit) on the basis of the classical literature is being portrayed and, from the viewpoint of biomechanics, enlarged upon.

Finger in der Wunde

Wu Wei Verlag in Schondorf published my book "Finger in der Wunde" in Germany in October 2006. The English version "Tug of War - Classical versus "Modern Dressage" was published in September 2007.

In this publication I explain the biomechanics of the horse and therefore the biomechanical background of classical riding instruction. I also look at today's modern methods used in riding and training in comparison to the basis of classical knowledge. In December 2007, the second edition of my book was published in Germany. In this edition, I go further into the thoughts of the riding sport today as well as more biomechanical findings.

Until now, the book is published in its third edition. About 60.000 copies were sold worldwide and the book is now available in 12 languages.

my book for young people:

Mein Pferd hat die Nase vorn!

The book addresses ambitious teenagers and adolescents, as well as interested adults, late entrants and newcomers. The content of this book is based on my first one, but the language is adapted and fitting to the above mentioned target group.

The classical training as a basis of experienced animal welfare is portrayed and emphasized.

The key phrase is “The anatomy of the horse explains its way of training”.
